Victorian 9ct Yellow/Rose Gold And Gold Cased Albertina Circa 1880

Collections: Sold Archive

Dating to the late Victorian era this wonderful and so very pretty Albertina has taken our ‘Hearts’ and we hope it will melt yours too!

Crafted from a mix of components, the rope twist and foxtail chains are testing as 9ct gold (via X-Ray fluorescence) and the two sliders, tassel fob, dog clip clasp and the absolutely gorgeous Heart fob are testing as lower carat gold and would be ‘cased’ over, probably, Silver.

This was a common practice in Victorian times - much like the beautiful fob seals we see, gold cased is not ‘plated’ as we know it today!!

The stunning sliders, tassel and square Heart fob show both yellow and rose gold, with fine texturing and applied raised floral details.

And then there is the Heart… double sided with rose gold Hearts to each, against a textured background, and with fine raised embellishments to the border in mixed rose and yellow also.

Measuring a very wearable 20cm in length this beautiful antique Albertina will not disappoint!

Tassel - 3.0cm Length

Tested via XRF as 9ct to chains and 6-7ct to other components ( cased over Silver or similar )

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition.  No really losses to gold casing, some marks here and there.  Detail is beautiful.  Clasp works perfectly.  Sliders move freely and smoothly.   Our opinion is that the Heart fob is not original to the bracelet and is probably early to mid Victorian, but it works and matches perfectly.
