Victorian 9ct Yellow Gold Mechanical Pencil By Sampson & Mordan Circa 1890

Dating to the late Victorian (dated 1896) era we have this large mechanical/propelling pencil by Sampson & Mordan.

Crafted from 9ct yellow gold and featuring fine engine turned pattern throughout and topped with a round fine Bloodstone to the top.

Measuring a substantial 12cm in length when extended and weighing a very healthy 13 grams this one feels beautiful in the hand.

An inscription reading ‘From S.L.J from S.H * 1896 *’ dates this one nicely.

Stamped of course with ’S.MORDAN & CO’ to the shaft also.

Very good to excellent antique condition. No lead at present, these graphite leads can be obtained.  Propels and retracts smoothly.  Bloodstone has no chips or abrasions.  No issues to note.
