DESCRIPTION (Please scroll to the bottom to view video)
Dating to after 1979 given the method of hallmarking to the verso, we believe this one would date to around the 1980’s or thereabouts.
Crafted from high quantity silver - 950 - and modelled in the form of a butterfly with Onyx and Azurite to the wings, and to the body a piece of Jasper.
The verso of the butterfly is fully modelled in silver and this piece is a substantial weight at 25 grams.
Hallmarks to the back - TR-11E signify this piece was made in Taxco by possible ‘R’ for Reveriano & Maria Castillo, and 11 indicating he/they were the 11th smith to register a name beginning with ‘R’ in the citys assay office.
Large and strikingly impressive at 5.5 x 5.0 cm this bright ad quite dramatic piece of jewellery is beautifully and solidly crafted and a must for the Butterfly and/or Mexican jewellery collector.
