Possibly one of if not the best Victorian muff/guard chain we’ve had the pleasure of offering for purchase.
Masterfully crafted form 9ct rose gold with each and every link not only in faceted belcher link style but also of interlocking ‘figure eight’ fashion. Skillfully crafted as the faceted belcher links also reflect the light and this chain veritably shimmers!
Worn originally by women throughout the early 19th to early 20th century typically to suspend a muff (hand warmer/gloves) but these days these wonderful and versatile chains can be styled in so many ways and with any of your favourite pendants safely clipped by the original dog-clip.
Stamped 9ct to an applied cartouche to the chain and to the dog-clip with makers mark ‘E & B’.
Measuring true muff chain length at 160cm with its original thick and sturdy dog-clip and in extraordinary condition with a warm soft rose patina.
