A beautiful marriage of rich, velvety blue and brilliant white diamonds! Dating to the 1970s–early 1980s, this gorgeous 18ct white and yellow gold cluster ring is a wonderfully eye-catching example of vintage jewellery design, combining bold geometric styling with timeless elegance.
Taking centre stage is a beautiful natural emerald-cut Sapphire, displaying a captivating deep, dark blue hue with an almost velvety appearance. Measuring approximately 4.00mm x 2.85mm and estimated at 0.15ct in its setting, the Sapphire provides a striking contrast against the surrounding bright white Diamonds.
Framed within a beautifully proportioned square 18ct white gold setting, the Sapphire is surrounded by eight sparkling round brilliant-cut Diamonds, their lively brilliance bringing the entire cluster to life! The eight Diamonds measure approximately 2.45mm each, with an estimated combined weight of 0.40ct, displaying lovely I–J colour and SI clarity. Wonderfully bright and full of sparkle, they provide a gorgeous contrast to the rich, midnight-blue tones of the central Sapphire.
The beautifully constructed cluster sits proudly above an intricately pierced white gold under gallery, featuring an attractive arrangement of openwork detailing that is just as lovely viewed from the side. The elevated design has also been cleverly considered, allowing a favourite eternity or wedding band to tuck neatly beneath the setting for a beautifully layered look.
Gracefully upswept yellow gold shoulders rise to meet and support the cluster, creating a lovely flowing transition from the bold square setting to the beautifully polished, substantial yellow gold shank. The combination of warm yellow gold and cool white gold lends the ring an additional touch of elegance, while the solid construction gives it a wonderfully reassuring feel.
Weighing a generous 5.17 grams, this gorgeous vintage ring has a fabulous presence on the finger! Condition
Presenting in very good vintage condition, this beautiful ring has been wonderfully cared for. The diamonds are bright and lively, with no chips or abrasions noted. The sapphire displays extremely minor softening to the table facet polish, almost imperceptible to the naked eye and best observed under 10x loupe magnification. This is mentioned for accuracy only and in no way detracts from the sapphire’s beautiful appearance.
