Fabulous Antique Georgian Pinchbeck Barrel Clasp Rope Necklace Circa 1790-1810
A truly remarkable piece of history, this antique Georgian pinchbeck barrel clasp rope necklace dates from around 1790 to 1810, during the reign of George III.
Crafted from rich and bright pinchbeck, a high-quality gold substitute of the era, it radiates a golden luster that beautifully mimics real gold.
Measuring an impressive 95 cm in length, this substantial necklace features textured interlocking Belcher-style textured links, allowing it to be worn long or elegantly doubled around the neck.
Despite being over two centuries old, it remains in excellent condition, showing no signs of thinning or repairs — a rare find for a piece of this age.
The necklace is secured with its original barrel-shaped clasp, a hallmark of Georgian design, set with paste glass stones in delicate shades of blue, white, and lavender. This charming detail adds a touch of refined colour and authenticity to the piece.
Becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in such wonderful condition, this necklace is a must-have for serious collectors of Georgian jewellery, and looks absolutely superb with you favourite antique locket or pendant.
Elegant, versatile, and steeped in history, it is a substantial and timeless statement piece that captures the enduring beauty of 18th-century craftsmanship.
***Under no circumstances should Georgian Pinchbeck be immersed in ultrasound, water etc. Clean gently with a gold cloth only.
