There is something wonderfully intimate about a Georgian name seal, and this beautiful example captures that feeling perfectly.

Dating from around 1810 to the 1830s, this antique fob is crafted entirely in rich 15 carat rose gold, glowing with the soft warmth that only early gold can achieve. It is a piece that feels personal from the moment you see it, as though it has quietly carried someone’s story for over two centuries.

Set with a finely carved Carnelian intaglio, engraved with the name Charlotte in elegant cursive script. The carving is exceptionally crisp, framed by a delicate border of single dots, with subtle ribbed detailing beneath the lettering that adds depth and character.
The Carnelian itself is in outstanding condition, smooth and perfectly preserved, which is especially rare for seals of this age and use.

Originally intended as a personal signature, seals like this were worn daily, used to mark letters and documents with wax, and often became treasured keepsakes passed through generations. Today, the name gives this piece a deeply human quality.

For anyone with a Charlotte in their life, past or present, it offers a beautiful and meaningful connection. Even without a personal link, it remains an evocative reminder of a time when names were engraved with intention and worn close to the heart.

The fob measures approximately 3 cm in length, with the seal face measuring 1.9 × 1.5 cm, making it perfectly proportioned to wear on a favourite antique chain.
Whether worn as a pendant or cherished as part of a collection, this is a soulful Georgian piece that feels as relevant and touching today as it did over 200 years ago.
