DESCRIPTION
An exceptionally well crafted Egyptian Revival Plique à Jour and Marcasite brooch depicting the Egyptian sacred winged scarab Khepri.
Khepri represented the rising and moving of the morning sun and is therefore known as the Sun God.
Crafted from 935 Silver, in either Austria or Germany, around 1930 or thereabouts, and centred with on oval green cabochon quartz with the scarab legs holding a single marcasite each in an ‘offering’ to the Sun.
The Plique à Jour translucent dusky pink and cream wings are outstretched and are also accented with marcasite.
Original rollover C clasp to the rear and the extra security of its original safety chain and pin.
