Austrian Art Deco Egyptian Revival Plique à Jour Winged Scarab Brooch Circa 1930
Khepri represented the rising and moving of the morning sun and is therefore known as the Sun God.
Crafted from 935 Silver, in either Austria or Germany, around 1930 or thereabouts, and centred with on oval green cabochon quartz with the scarab legs holding a single marcasite each in an ‘offering’ to the Sun.
The Plique à Jour translucent dusky pink and cream wings are outstretched and are also accented with marcasite.
Original rollover C clasp to the rear and the extra security of its original safety chain and pin.
A makers stamp ‘THK’? (we believe) denotes the maker of this piece, as of yet we cannot identify.
6cm X 2.5cm
935 (Higher grade that 925 Sterling)
’THK’? - Unidentifiable
Very good to excellent vintage/antique condition. Plique à Jour enamel is excellent, no damage. All marcasite are original, no re-glues, no chips or wear. Original pin and C clasp to verso. Some patina to silver, we are leaving this alone. Beautiful condition with no issues to note.
