We wish our initials were ‘RA’ but alas this stunning all original Art Deco compact is destined for another!
Crafted from Sterling silver and 9ct gold to the trim and set with eight scissor cut Rubies (not tested but almost definitely man made) to the thumb piece push clasp.
Fine engine turning to both front and back with a grooved edging in 9ct rose gold and the initials ‘RA’ in vertical orientation in 9ct gold to the centre.
Measuring a convenient hand sized 8.3cm x 5.5cm, original mirror to the inside which is in excellent condition, and one the little cover which the face powder would have sat beneath.
We know people use their phones these days to check their make-up… gone are the days of decorum mostly but.. for a special occasion wouldn’t you be the talk of the evening if you popped this beauty out of your purse!
8 x 5mm x 2.5mm Scissor-cut
8.3cm x 5.5cm
‘A&Co Ltd’ For Asprey and Co
Foreign Import Mark - 925 - ‘A’ For London 1936
Very good (almost antique) 86 year old condition. Very minor marks to silver. Rubies show no chips or scratches. Opens and closes beautifully. Old face powder smell is apparent, this would have penetrated the leather trimmed insert.. this could be removed and scent would dissipate.
