This gorgeous piece of functional jewellery dates to around the Art Deco era and is designed as both a fully functional magnifying Lorgnette and folds down to also be worn as a very pretty floral bouquet marcasite dress clip!
Crafted in Sterling Silver and set with an array of Marcasites which are all not only present and original but in excellent condition.
Pretty engraved detail to the nose piece and detailed edging to the frames speak to the exceptional quality of this example.
Spring released via a small lever which ‘pops’ the lenses out perfectly and they fold down with a secure snap.
The magnifying lenses do ‘work’ so you can absolutely use them and when you’re finished fold them down and wear as intended as a dress clip, or pocket on your shirt or your lapel! Alternatively they could also be worn, when folded, on a fine chain as a pendant.

Very very good antique/vintage condition. All Marcasite present and no chips nor re-glues. Lenses are magnified, secure in settings, some minor marks to glass here and there, no deep scratches. Spring release works perfectly. Patina here and there. Overall wonderful condition.
