Quite a striking example of a Victorian Bookchain with assosciated removable drop and locket, making this piece very versatile.

Very bright gold-gilt, the colour of high cart gold, with intricate pattern to one side and plain to the verso, these extraordinary Bookchains traditionally were designed for the plain side to be worn during the day and intricate decorative side for the evening!

With original locket we believe which contains original rims an one section still has its original glass.

These pieces especially with their original drop section and lockets are becoming highly collectable and sought after.

CONDITION

Very good antique condition. Very minimal wear to gilt to collar, some areas under magnification have a slightly ‘rosy’ gold look however the overall appearance is very very bright gold gilt. Locket opens and closes perfectly. Fading to gilt on rear panel of locket, does not detract from this piece.
