Glorious and large antique Victorian Bohemian Garnet pendant saturated with the most lush wine-red rose cut Bohemian Garnets.

Dating to the late Victorian era and designed as an articulated pendant with the main body in three dimensional tiered form with a central oval rosette of Garnets to a border of star-rays and an articulated top section also in the form of a rosette with a hidden ’S’ curve bale to the verso.

Traditionally crafted from Silver and backed in ‘Tombac’ also known as Garnet gold which is an alloy of coper and zinc used to imitate gold and very commonly used in Bohemian Garnet jewellery.

Impressively large at a 6cm drop x 4cm wide and weighing a substantial 16 grams with the hidden bale at the rear of the top section large enough to accomodate a variety of chains this striking piece receives compliments when ever she is seen.

Good antique condition.  At some time in history there has been a subtle reinforcement to the inside rear of pendant.  This can be seen as our jeweller polished it to see the work. As a result the Tombac is now highly polished and looking like bright rose gold, this will re-develop an ‘aged’ patina in time, looks fine the way it is though.  Two or three of the tiniest Garnets may be replacements, seen under magnification or close scrutiny only.
