Stunning pair of antique Victorian Bohemian garnet drop earrings dating to around the late 1800’s to turn of the last century.
Modelled as a double articulated drop with the bottom a two dimensional tiered rosette and the top motif resembling a butterfly.
The plumby red Bohemian rose cut garnets are luscious in colour and set in claw silver settings and the back in Tombac or ‘Garnet gold’, which is an alloy of cooper and zinc used to imitate gold and very commonly used in Bohemian Garnet jewellery during this era.
Originally screw backs with a tiny rosette cluster which these drops suspended from we have had our jeweller source a large and solid pair of 9ct yellow gold shepherds hooks to enable these to be worn with ease.
