When one wants to make a statement! This large and impressive ring started its life in the Victorian era as an Amethyst brooch but was skillfully converted to the more wearable and stunning piece you see today.
Set to the centre with a large natural oval faceted Amethyst measuring large 1.7cm x 1.2cm or approximately 8cts, surrounded halo style with 18 natural split pearls which are creamy white and well matched and all original to the piece.
With a large and showy finger spread of 2.5cm x 2.0cm and low rise, nice and flat to the finger, this ring is surprisingly comfortable to wear.
Crafted from 9ct yellow gold both to the setting and later shank, which again has been done with skill and care with very little evidence.

Very very good antique condition. Shank has been added skillfully, no messy solder all gold and neat. Pearls original with no apparent re-gluing. All claws original and Amethyst is very secure. Very very superficial marks to Amethyst seen under x10 magnification or macro photos only, eye clean. Lovely large ring.
