The symbol of a bluebird as the harbinger of happiness is found in many cultures and may date back thousands of years representing happiness, hope, knowledge and enlightenment.
This superb antique piece is hallmarked for Payton, Pepper & Sons Ltd Birmingham with the date letter for 1898. Quite rare an example as these are usually seen in silver not gold.
Each meticulously detailed blue-bird measures a large 3.4cm x 2.8cm showing fine plumage and sweet little facial details.
Each retains its original pin and C clasp to verso and are very secure.
Worn originally as a coat / cloak clasp these fine pieces have already made a resounding come-back for the fashion conscious today.
