Large and very beautiful locket dating to the late Victorian era crafted from carved and polished black Onyx.
The first impressive feature of this locket is its size. Measuring, without bale, 4.5cm x 3.6cm and with bale an impressive drop of 5.8cm.
To the front of the locket an applied motif displaying the initials ‘IMO’ which would stand for, 'In Memory Of' in 18ct yellow gold. These initials are set with an array of creamy white natural half seed Pearls.
To the verso is a locket compartment with its original rim and glass to which a photo or momento would have been held, and could do so once again if desired.
Suspending the locket is a stunning 18ct yellow gold large bale set with three graduated Pearls and a fine border of black enamel, and is wide enough to accommodate a large chain. (The chain in our photos is available on request and matches this locket beautifully).
In incredible condition, almost flawless, this future heirloom will not disappoint.

CONDITION
Very good to excellent antique condition. All pearls are original, no replacements or re-glues. Onyx is lovely, no abrasions or chips or marks. Rim and glass are original, rim is a lower carat gold, probably around 9ct for strength and durability. Fabric taffeta? Inside rear compartment probably not original, but old.
