Dating to the late Victorian era this large and simply striking carved Citrine intaglio pendant is impressive on so many levels.

Carved in ‘intaglio’ with a lion rampant, surmounted with a hand holding a sword, and the motto in Latin ‘Fortem me irretes cave’ which means ‘Be careful not to entangle the strong’.

The centerpiece of this pendant is the magnificent Citrine, measuring an impressive 27mm x 19mm x 10mm, estimated to be a remarkable 33.0ct in weight. What sets this Citrine apart is its unique and alluring faceting, known as the scissor cut. This faceting technique adds an extra layer of brilliance and depth to the stone, making it truly mesmerising to behold.

Crafted in 15ct rose gold, the Citrine is multi claw set and retains its original jump ring which will accommodate a fine chain.

Whether you are a collector of vintage jewellery or simply appreciate the charm of the Victorian era, this pendant is sure to captivate your heart. Its intricate carving, meaningful motto, and exceptional Citrine make it a true treasure that will undoubtedly become a cherished heirloom

“Intaglio’ is an engraving or incised figure in stone or other hard material depressed below the surface so that an impression from the design yields an image in relief”.
