Antique Victorian 15ct Rose Gold Carbuncle Garnet And Rose-Cut Diamond Halo Ring Circa 1880-90

A simply delightful antique Victorian ring dating to the late Victorian era circa 1880’s.
Crafted from 15ct rose gold and designed as an ever popular low rise ‘halo’ ring, oval in shape, and set with a mesmerising deep red carbuncle Garnet (pyrope) weighing approximately 3.2cts, which exhibits a rolling intense shimmer that veritably glows.
Surrounding the Garnet are eighteen old rough cut rose-cut diamonds, perfectly imperfect in shape, set in cut down silver settings typical of the era.
Closed backed to the verso, all the gems are in closed backed settings, to a simple half round shank.
Low on the finger, a lovely finger hugging spread of 1.6cm x 1.1cm, combined with the warm glow of the rose gold, intense fiery red Garnet and sparkling white diamonds results in our opinion one of the most beautiful and timeless rings we’ve had the pleasure of offering.
Closed backed gemstones must never be immersed in liquids or placed in Ultrasound cleaners.

CONDITION
Good antique condition. Shank is solid with no thinning. Garnet under loupe magnification has very very minor rubbing, no chips, eye clean. Diamonds are rough cut rose-cuts, irregular in cut, shape and colour and clarity, minor marks and tiny nicks only. Some age related wear to silver settings. A very pretty ring. Priced accordingly.
