A splendid antique late Georgian / early Victorian heart padlock clasp dating to approximately 1830-1850.

Crafted from 15ct yellow gold and featuring exquisite spirals of foliage and wee flowers to both the front and back.  Amid the foliate details there are three luscious deep pinky/red Garnet cabochons in typical cut down settings.

To the reverse of the locket there is the original locket compartment for a token of a loved one with the original fabric and pane in place.

This is a working padlock.. the arm is strong (crafted from and tested as 9ct gold), opens and closes very securely, and can be worn on a bracelet or suspended from a favourite chain on a bolt ring or dog clips.

In beautiful condition, fully functional, stunningly handcrafted, this piece is an asset to any serious collectors jewellery wardrobe.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition.  No chips to garnets, well set and secure.  Padlock arm is strong and opens and closes very securely.  Rear locket compartment is ever so slightly ‘askew’, about 1 millimetre, in its frame, we have not attempted to remove it, this is quite an insignificant issue, noting for accuracy only.  Shallow impressions seen under scrutiny to ‘balls’ on top of heart where padlock arm is, again not of great significance.  A lovely all original piece with no repairs.
