Dating to the Georgian (possibly very early Victorian era) circa 1820-30’s, this antique fob seal has survived in incredible condition and is truly a stunning piece of early craftsmanship.
Crafted from 15ct gold, (with the wonderful applied floral motifs testing slightly higher), and designed as a traditional fob seal with the most wonderful, and large, foil-backed Amethyst set to the base, which is in almost pristine condition, and displays an intense and vibrant purple hue.
Ornate and highly embellished with flowing Tudor rose type floral applied motifs, and Acanthus shells, in both rose and yellow gold, this large fob measures a striking 2.5cm in height, and the Amethyst set base an also large 1.6cm x 1.3cm.
The top finial is a lovely size and will accommodate a chain, dog-clip or a ribbon if desired (a later 9ct jump ring is present but an be removed easily).
Presenting rarely to the market these sought after Georgian fob seals a a must for the serious jewellery connoisseur.
