Antique Georgian 18ct Yellow Gold ‘Heart’ Shaped Locket Circa 1790

*Please note boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated*
Stunning and quite rare poignant locket dating to the late 1700’s to early 1800’s in the shape of the Georgian eras version of a ‘Heart’.

Crafted from gold that has tested to approximately 18ct yellow gold throughout and modelled as a locket which opens to reveal a braided hair matting which may or may not be original. There is plenty of space to add your own momento or photo if desired.

Quite often these early lockets are seen faced with what is called Rock Crystal, we believe this one is however glass or similarity is faceted and free from any damage or nicks to the facets.

Enclosed to the back, original bale and measuring with bale a lovely 2.8cm x 1.6cm.
The bale can accommodate quite a good sized chain and / or will suspend beautifully from a lobster clasp on your favourite long guard chain.

This quite amazing little piece of history is a must for the Georgian jewellery collector.

2.8cm with bale x 1.6cm
5.52 Grams
Tested at approx 18ct gold
Very very good antique condition.  This piece is approximately 220 years old.  The gold back panel shows very early evidence of being re-soldered some time antiquity and this can be seen on very close inspection, it has been assessed as very secure.  Bale is original and very secure.  NO other repairs.  Glass front is in very very good condition and very clear.
