Quite an unusual example of an Edwardian Circa 1905 Moonstone 9ct gold necklace.
Set with fifteen beautiful ethereal natural blue Moonstones of a very high quality, clear, and exhibiting strong blue adularescence and each with amazing Schiller effect.
Each of the five large oval Moonstones are held very securely in oval bezel settings with the large central Moonstone holding a sweet articulated drop Moonstone, also oval and bezel set.
Suspended by a finely made 9ct chain, is then a circular motif of consisting of eight round stunning Moonstone cabochons, each flat claw set and also of a very high quality. To the centre of this motif is another articulated round cabochon.
Interestingly each link of this entire necklace, both the necklace chain and the supporting chains between the Moonstones and the fine suspension chain, are gold soldered to the next link which shows handcrafting of such a high quality, seen only in the finest quality chains with a very secure barrel-style push in clasp.
Festoon Moonstone necklaces as fine as this are rare and hard to find.
