Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Double Sided Photo Locket Circa 1905
The first thing to note about this antique photo locket is her size, and weight. The largest we have seen at 5cm round not including the bale, this stunningly good locket is a cut above the rest and hefty at 20 grams.
Crafted from 9ct soft hued rose gold with an ornate feature bale which adds a further 1.2cm giving this one a drop of 6.2cm when suspended from a chain.
Inside are two exquisite, and we certainly believe the original, hand finished/painted portraits.
Both in period dress, the young lass with strawberry blonde hair and unusually brown eyes. Her lips, tendrils of hair and bodice of her dress display minute brush strokes and is exceptionally well done, quite stunning.
The reverse displays an older lady also in period costume who perhaps at first looks a little stern… upon close examination and over time one can see she has a softness and kind expression around the eyes… We wonder if this is the young girls grandmother but sadly we will never know.
Of course you may want this locket to display your own photos, completely understandable. However we would like to see these original portraits stay with the locket. Please contact us first if you absolutely do not want them as we would loathe to see such incredible portraits thrown away and we will keep them.

Very very good antique condition. Both original panels, one appears to be a glass and one an early solid plastic. No scratches to either pane. Minor marks to gold, only mentioning for accuracy. Bale is fine, works and moves as it should. The portraits are strikingly beautiful.
