Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Diamond ‘Mizpah’ Ring
Dating to 1902, assayed in Birmingham and beautifully hallmarked as such, this charming and exceptionally crafted ‘Mizpah’ ring exhibits lovely details, including raised bold lettering, set to the centre with a lovely bright and white diamond in star gypsy setting, the outer rim of the band beautifully detailed with corrugated edging to the full circumference.
The band is a soft matte yellow gold hue while the letters and plate surrounding the diamond are in a rosy gold hue which is such a lovely contrast and works really well when pairing with your favourite rings.
In gorgeous antique condition, ready to wear solo or stacked as is often the trend!
History of Mizpah
Mentioned in the Bible, Mizpah is a Hebrew word that has come to connote an emotional bond between two people.
Mizpah jewellery generally was exchanged between two people who were lovers or close friends and might be separated from each other for some amount of time.
Some of the pieces are engraved with the phrase, “The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another,” which immediately follows the mention of Mizpah in the book of Genesis.
