These ornate Masonic Ball Fobs can also be known as a Cross Fob or a Masonic Orb.

The original Freemason owner would have worn this to discreetly shown his membership into the brotherhood. They are still in production to this day, however they most commonly date to the late 19th to early 20th century.

This example is crafted from both 9ct yellow gold and silver gilt (inside) to the inside pyramids which is the most typical construction seen, very rarely are they found in 9ct or 18ct inside.

The orb is of 9ct gold and in its closed position resembles a ‘ballot ball’ used during Masonic voting.

Once opened this Orb folds out to reveal six hand engraved pyramids with 24 Masonic symbols - 4 per pyramid.

A larger and heavier example than usual this fine example weighs a considerable 11.5 grams and measures, when open, 5 cm x 3 cm and when closed 1.8cm.
