An exquisite pair of antique Diamond earrings in ‘Dormeuse’ style crafted around the 1880’s and Austro-Hungarian, (probably Vienna), we believe in origin.
Crafted in Silver with 9ct pink gold to the backs and lever back fittings with the diamonds set in silver as per the era.
The upper most diamond is rose cut with an approx diameter of 2mm, set in silver with a further open silver border. An articulated lever supports the following rose cut oval diamond measuring approx 3.2mm x 4.2mm. The final pear cut diamond is also articulated and measures approx 7.0mm x 4.0m.
All the rose-cut diamonds are foil backed and over the past 140 or so years has deteriorated to a degree giving some of the diamonds a darkish appearance however we think this just adds to their charm.
The lever back fittings are in 9ct pink gold and are strong and function as they should and keep these beauties secure in the ear.
Increasingly hard to come by these early pair of antique earrings are alluring and very attractive on the ear.
Estimated total diamond weight is approximately 0.98ct
Drop from ear 3.0cm
Tested to 9ct and Silver
Good antique condition. Lever backs are in very good working order and secure. Diamonds are secure in their settings. Foil backs to diamonds have deteriorated over time and diamonds have a darkish appearance. No chips to diamonds. Very slight din to silver setting around one top diamond, see photos. Marks here and there to silver. Lovely early earrings.
