This antique Australian 9ct rose gold nephrite Jade fob pendant, dating to circa 1910, carries all the quiet romance of a bygone era.
Back in the early 20th century (and even before), gentlemen wore pocket watches tucked into waistcoat pockets, secured by elegant chains with decorative fobs dangling at the end—often a seal, charm, or polished stone like this one.
These fobs added a touch of personal flair and status.
Today, they’ve beautifully transitioned into modern pendants, ready to grace a neckline instead!
The star here is a substantial piece of nephrite Jade, polished into an unusually wide and graceful shape.
Jade has been treasured for millennia across cultures (from ancient tools and talismans in places like New Zealand, where Māori revere pounamu as a sacred taonga symbolising strength, purity, and connection to the land, to prized ornaments elsewhere).
This one measures a generous 4.2 cm drop from the bale and widens to almost 2 cm, making it impressively present without overwhelming.

CONDITION
Very good to excellent antique condition. Top gold mount is lovely, no damages. Top ring appears to be original and sealed. Nephrite Jade shows only minor surface wear, no chips or scratches. A lovely large piece.
