Antique Australian 9ct Rose Gold ‘Dinna Forget’ Pendant Circa 1910

Historical Context
These “Dinna Forget” pendants were popular sentimental jewels, particularly among Scottish families and the Scottish-Australian community. The thistle, Scotland’s national emblem, symbolises strength, resilience, and enduring remembrance. Their popularity grew even stronger during World War I, when many Australian soldiers of Scottish heritage carried or gifted them as touching reminders of loved ones back home before heading off to war.

Crafted 9 carat rose gold around 1910, this circular pendant measures a lovely 2.1cm across. The front beautifully displays a Scottish thistle motif with the heartfelt motto “DINNA FORGET” (Scottish dialect for “Don’t Forget”) elegantly engraved across the design.
This example is hallmarked with Australian marks, including the wheatsheaf symbol used by Victorian Manufacturing Jewellers Association guarantee marks for 9 carat gold. While the maker’s mark is a little illegible the clear Australian hallmarks confirm its origin.

Excellent antique condition. A lovely well made example, no repairs or damages, no dents. Top ring is quite small and we would suggest a larger top ring to accommodate a larger chain, however as seen in photos, it will fit onto a small jump ring. No issues to note.Explore Our Collection
