Absolutely charming antique pendant by Western Australian early jewellery firm ‘Caris Bros’.
Designed as a fob pendant which would have originally been worn on a fob watch chain but today could be worn as a pendant or use her as originally attended and add her to your antique Albert chain.
Capped with 9ct rosy hued gold featuring a large quite spectacular piece of banded Agate with a bulls eye dark umber feature surrounded by stunning circles of chocolate, oranges, and cream tones radiating thereafter.
Measuring a nice large 4cm x 1.1cm at her widest this striking piece is a real conversation starter and your chance to own a piece of unusual and unique early
Australian jewellery.
HISTORY OF CARIS BROS 1894- 1987
Caris Bros founded in the 1890’s became a major retail establishment of Perth in the 20th century.
Stanley Caris of Kalgoorlie was listed in Wise’s Western Australia Directory of 1894 as a general merchant and importer of watches and jewellery. Three years later he advertising as a ‘practical watchmaker jewellery and optician. By 1898 the firm of Caris Bros was established in Perth and Kalgoorlie. In 1919 the acquired the business of A.L Brunkhorst of Adelaide and by the 1910’s were operating a substantial chain of stores in Western Australia.
Caris Bros wares were marked “CARIS’. Later in the 1940’s they registered a ‘HORSESHOE’ as a trade marks on their gold jewellery.
Eventually in 1961 they took over their major competitor - Levinson and Sons. Trading was ceased in 1987.
