Dating to the early 19th century and crafted from 9ct rose gold which has been ‘bloomed’ to give the appearance of a higher carat gold. This practice was very popular in this era.
Fashioned as an ‘Arrow’ brooch, also very popular at this time, but this one has the added attraction of the half Moon ‘crescent’ with a dainty star to the centre.
Celestial designs were adored by the Victorians following the appearance of Halleys comet and were commissioned in abundance along with crescent moons and the like.
Set with pink faceted glass stones resembling Ruby and half pearls which are all original and pristine in condition.
These brooches are often converted (easily) into pendants as there are two tiny loops to the back where the chain is attached… the simple addition of a chain and a little conversion time by your jeweller and this one easily becomes a striking necklace if desired!
