Charming antique Australian piece hallmarked for manufacture by H. Simonsen Pty Ltd and stamped with their symbol of a ’Square and Compass’.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold and centred with a stunning pale carved faceted Amethyst Heart measuring approximately 1.4cm x 1.4cm, multi claw set to a surround of trefoil motifs each set with a single tiny half seed Pearl.
The Amethyst is stunning.. a pale Lilac pink hue (our personal favourite colour) sometimes classed as a ‘Rose de France’ Amethyst.
Original C clasp and pin to verso and safety chain and pin.
A stunning early piece of Australiana, the perfect piece for the Amethyst collector.
The firm of Johnson and Simonsen was established at Swanson Street, Melbourne in 1895 and subsequently beech ‘H. Simonsen Pty Ltd from 1914 to 1927.
They moved to Bourke Street and finally to 25 Little Collins Street.
Jewellers, gem merchants and importers Simonsen became one of the major jewellery manufacturers in Melbourne. The standard mark of Johnson and Simonsen, then H. Simonsen Pty Ltd was a “Square and Compass” used in conjunction with the guarantee marks of he M.J.A.of Victoria.

CONDITION
Very good antique condition. There are tiny nibbles to two facets, under close scrutiny. Seed Pearls appear to be original and in good condition. Original C clasp and (non gold) pin to verso. Original safety chain and pin, not tested, probably 9ct gold. Lovely antique Australian piece.
