Big, bright and beautiful perhaps best describes this wonderful early Australian brooch by little known manufacturing jewellery A.J. Long and Co. of 288 Little Collins Street Melbourne.
Centering a large 1.3cm round faceted natural Amethyst of light to medium colour, six claw set to a solid gallery, set atop a simple bar brooch which has nicely tapered ends.
Modelled in 9ct rose gold with a yellow wash common of the era, and now is that oldy goldy rosy yellow hue we all tend to love in antique jewellery.
Original double C clasp, pin and safety chain to verso for added security.

Very good antique condition. Gold has a rose and yellow hue especially to Amethyst gallery. Original C clasp ad pin to rear, no repairs. One tiny and minuscule flea bite to Amethyst almost impossible to see with naked eye, noting for accuracy only. Lovely brooch.
