Wonderful and early example of a Starburst combination pendant and brooch by one of our well known jewellery firms Johnson and Simonsen.
Crafted around the turn of the century from 15ct yellow gold and modelled as a Starburst set with natural half seed Pearls and small cabochon Turquoise, and versatile given there is an articulated Pearl set bale and to the verso a secure brooch fitting.
Measuring a pleasing 2.8cm (without bale) in diameter this lovely example of early Australian history will not disappoint.

Very very good antique condition. All Pearls and Turquoise are original with no replacements or re-gluing. Bale is original as is C clasp, pin and fittings. No repairs.
History of Johnson and Simonsen
Established in Melbourne 1895 the manufacturing firm of Johnson and Simonsen became one of the major jewellery manufacturers in Melbourne. Their hallmark was a ’Square and Compass” used in conjunction with the guarantee marks of the M.J.A. of Victoria.
