Dating to the early 20th century this wonderful and quite poignant ring is a reminder of days gone by given her subtle inscription of the name ‘JEAN’ .. we wonder who Jean was, when and why she was gifted this lovely ring and what her life was like..
What we do know about Jean is that she was almost certainly Australian (the ring bears early Australian stamps) and was crafted over 100 years ago from 15ct rose gold and designed as a wide 8.7mm ‘cigar band’ style low profile band.
Lush, thick and wide, incredibly comfortable on the finger, ‘Jeans’ name has slightly faded with the passing of 100 years but we feel this is quite fitting as we imagine Jean herself too…
Treasures such as these deserve to be seen, worn and loved again.. perhaps she could find a fitting place in you heart?
‘15ct ‘Crown’ 15’ (Indicative of early Australian hallmarks)
Q 1/2 or 18.5mm diameter US 8 1/2
Can be resized 4-6 up, 4 down
Very good antique condition. ‘Jean’ inscription has faded, quite uniformly, but is charming and subtle.. This ‘name’ could be polished out by a jeweller if desired but we think it is lovely as is. Ring is thick and showing no wear nor thinning, hallmarks are very crisp and clear.
