Superb and versatile combination pendant / brooch by one of our iconic early Australian jewellery firms Willis and Sons.
Constructed from 15ct gold and hallmarked to the verso with Willis and Sons infamous hallmarks.
With full hallmarks to the verso with the guarantee mark for 15ct gold of the ‘hanging fleece’ which indicates this piece is prior to 1904. After 1904 Willis and Sons used the ‘W’ hallmark.
Modelled as a celestial crescent supporting to the centre a dove and studded with natural seed/half pearls, all of which is set to a raised and ornately pierced gallery.
The central feature measuring a nice 2.4cm x 2.3cm, and from the top suspension loop a drop of 4.6cm.
Such a wonderful piece, perfect for the collector of early Australiana but also a very wearable piece of jewellery.
