DESCRIPTION (Please scroll to the bottom to view video)
Poignant and sweet brooch dating to the first decade of the 20th century.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold which has been **bloomed to give the appearance of a higher carat yellow gold and a matt finish.
Centring the most beautiful carved Heart Amethyst which is faceted to the back and cabochon smooth to the front allowing the rear facets to show through subtly.
Set sweetly to the sides of the Amethyst are a tied ‘bow’ and a Swallow or bluebird set with natural half seed pearls, and dropping delicately a fine trace chain with a simple gold orb.
Almost definitely early Australian in manufacture however no hallmarks the we can find. Inscribed with the original owners initial in the most beautiful engraved lettering we have seen and the date ’10.04.04’ for 1904.
Carved Amethyst jewellery is popular at the best of times but add a Pearl Swallow and a bow and and you have a true collectible piece of history.
