Quite an incredible and rare piece of we believe early Australian, perhaps New Zealand, Nephrite Jade carved in to the semblance of a sharks tooth.
Doubly powerful given the material used and its association with Maori culture as a talisman carrying spiritual significance.
Pounamu or Greenstone/Nephrite Jade has connections to the natural world and can signify strength, love and harmony.
Sharks teeth have been adorned with gold and worn as talisman for centuries as seen in a spectacular example in the Met Museum dating to the 4th Century B.C.
The combination of both in this example is highly unusual.
Large in its proportions measuring 3cm in width and 3.5cm excluding jump rings, capped in 9ct rose gold and with fine chased detailing.
3cm x 3.5cm Excluding loops
Tested at 9ct gold
