Superbly crafted and quite exquisite in design this Edwardian pendant features two South Australian Coober Pedy crystal opals, and seed pearls, and was designed and handmade dating to around 1910.
Constructed in 9ct yellow gold with scrolling patterns reminiscent of both Edwardian and a smattering of Art Nouveau style, and set with fifty seed / half pearls, including three set to the bale.
The stars of the attraction are the two wonderful Australian crystal opals.
The larger central oval opal measures 8mm x 6mm and the drop opal measures 7mm x 4mm.
Both are N7 in body colour and exhibit mainly blues and greens but also red crimson colour play, especially the smaller opal ! (Photos simply do not do these opal justice).
This piece screams Edwardian style with its fluid, ethereal and feminine styling. Would make a wonderful addition to any ones collection, these early pieces are rare and so hard to find in such condition.
