Releasing from our personal collection, this larger than average Georgian Citrine Ring.

Dating to around 1820-1840 this one is quite unusual as she is *cased* similar to the Georgian era seals we some times see, and if there wasn’t some wear to the rear of the shank perhaps one would never have known!

Large and impressive on the finger with a surprising spread of 1.6cm x 1.4cm and set to the centre with an old-cut, foil backed Citrine.  Some deterioration to the foil can can be seen but we think this just adds to his allure.

Ornate scrolls and floral buds surround the border of the Citrine, to also richly ornate scroll worked shoulders, then to a plain shank at rear.

Closed backed with the simple ye olde inscribed initials ‘M Mc F(r)?’.

We have loved this handsome ring long enough and it’s now time for him to find his new caretaker.

CONDITION
Very good antique Georgian condition.  As mentioned this ring is ‘Cased’ in gold and to the rear of shank this can be seen, however this is wear to the gold only and the shank is strong and solid with no danger of wearing through.  Another loss to casing can also be seen higher up the shank, see photos, again solid and strong, just gold loss.

Foil under Citrine shows deterioration.  Citrine shows only very minor softening of facet edges under magnification, no chips.  All in all an interesting and desirable ring.
