Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Nephrite Jade ‘Niho’ Fob/ Pendant Circa 1910
Please note, chains are for display only unless otherwise stated.
A highly symbolic antique Edwardian area fob handcrafted from 9ct rose gold and Nephrite Jade sometimes also called Greenstone.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold with its original top ring, and styled as a tooth-shaped ’Niho’, a talisman connected to Māori mythology representing strength, leadership and resilience and commonly associated with two animals - the white and the shark.
Measuring a pleasingly large drop of 4.5cm and quite a hefty piece weighing 6.8 grams, this fine example dates to the Edwardian era.
Pieces such as this would have adorned a gentleman’s fob watch chain, but today are worn as striking and unusual pendants on you favourite chain or indeed an antique watch chain!
