Stunning Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold And Turquoise Heart Padlock Locket Circa 1840-1850
Please note, boxes and chains are for display only unless otherwise stated.
Imagine holding a tiny piece of 1840s romance in the palm of your hand.
This exquisite Heart padlock locket — crafted in rich 15ct yellow gold around 1845 — is more than just a jewel. It’s a secret-keeper, a love token, and a versatile treasure all in one.
Wear it as a pendant on a delicate chain or velvet ribbon, clip it to your favourite bracelet as the sweetest padlock clasp, or simply let it dangle and catch the light. Whichever way you choose, it feels instantly personal.
At its centre, three perfect Persian turquoise cabochons glow in that dreamy, unmistakable robin’s-egg blue — the exact shade that whispers “Tiffany” blue.
Swirling, hand-applied scrollwork dances around the Turquoise giving the Heart a soft, almost weightless grace despite its very satisfying 6.8 grams of solid gold.
Turn it over and discover the loveliest surprise: an oval locket compartment still preserving its original plaited hairwork — a tender Victorian custom that makes this piece feel as though it’s been waiting over 175 years just for you to continue its story.
The dainty safety chain is a thoughtful later addition (easily removed if you prefer the pure original look), but there if you need it for your favourite antique bracelet!
In beautiful, cared-for condition, with the gold still warm and buttery and the turquoises bright and unblemished, this is the kind of jewel that stops conversations. People will lean in, smile, and ask to see it closer… and you’ll find yourself happily telling its tale every time.
Some pieces feel like heirlooms the moment they touch your skin. This little heart is one of them. You might just find it impossible to let it go.
