This utterly charming Victorian 9 carat rose gold Turquoise envelope pendant is the kind of piece that instantly makes you smile.

Designed as a tiny opening letter, these sentimental charms were especially popular during the Victorian era and into the early Edwardian period, worn as keepsakes close to the heart.

Finding a good example today is becoming increasingly rare, and this one has all the character you could hope for.

Fully hallmarked for Birmingham with a date letter for 1900, this delightful little treasure is now an impressive 126 years old.

The envelope opens just as it should, and inside sits a miniature gold “letter” — a sweet symbolic detail that perfectly captures the romance of the era. To the front, where a stamp would traditionally be placed, is a tiny round Turquoise cabochon, adding a pop of cheerful colour against the warm rose gold. The name “Bertie” is beautifully engraved across the front, giving the piece a wonderfully personal touch and a story waiting to be continued.

To the reverse, the opening section of the envelope is also set with a second teeny Turquoise cabochon, and the hallmarks are neatly tucked below, confirming its authenticity and age. Every detail feels thoughtful and endearing, from the soft glow of the gold to the delicate Turquoise accents.

Whether the name ‘Bertie’ holds special meaning for you or you simply appreciate romantic, characterful antique jewellery, this little envelope charm is a true Victorian keepsake. Sweet, symbolic, and increasingly hard to find, it’s a wonderful addition to any antique jewellery collection — or a love letter from the past waiting to be worn.
