An exquisite pair of antique Victorian 9ct Yellow Gold Carved Whitby Jet Earrings, dating back to circa 1890, are a stunning representation of the Victorian era (1837-1901).
Crafted with attention to detail, the earrings feature intricately carved Whitby Jet, a fossilised wood known for its deep, lustrous black hue and historical significance in Victorian jewellery, often associated with mourning and remembrance.
Designed as double drops with a fine slim gold band separating the two pieces of carved Jet, and suspended from solid and strong long-backed shepherd hook fittings.
Dropping a lovely face framing 4cm from the ear, offering a graceful and elongated silhouette that is as fashionable today as it would have been in the late 19th century.
These earrings have a substantial yet wearable feel, with a lovely weight of 6.4 grams, and perfect for adding a touch of historical charm to any collection.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition. Hooks are solid and strong with nice long backs for added security. Jet is lovely, minor organic imperfections typical in Jet. Feel lovely on the ear, not too heavy, not too light.
