Antique Edwardian *Rolled Gold* Albertina Tassel Fob Watch Chain Circa 1900-1915
Please note, the long chain is for display only to illustrate how it could be worn as a necklace.
This exquisite Edwardian Albertina watch chain is a piece that instantly captures the romance and craftsmanship of a bygone era, while fitting effortlessly into a modern jewellery collection. Beautifully made and rich in detail, it offers both elegance and versatility, making it the kind of antique jewel that becomes an instant favourite.
Crafted by the respected jewellery firm Thomas Hopwood and clearly stamped as such, this Albertina, crafted from *rolled gold* was originally designed to suspend a lady’s fob watch, and today it translates perfectly as a striking bracelet or a characterful necklace component. Presenting in such fine condition, and quality seen in Thomas Hopwood pieces, it gives the appearance of 9ct gold!
The double curb link chain has a wonderful fluid weight to it, finished with a finely engraved floral slider that glides smoothly along the chain.
At one end hangs a charming heart-shaped tassel, with six delicate foxtail chains, each free flowing and sinuous, with a warm, rosy gold hue.
A substantial bolt ring and classic dog clip complete the design, allowing endless styling options with the easy addition of a chain or another Albertina perhaps!
Measuring approximately 25 cm when worn as a bracelet and extending to a full length of 31 cm, it can also be clipped onto another favourite chain and worn around the neck as a beautifully layered necklace.
Weighing a satisfying 20 grams, it feels wonderfully substantial without being heavy, and remains in beautiful original condition with no alterations or additions since it was crafted over a century ago.
Elegant, versatile and full of Edwardian charm, this is a truly special piece that deserves a treasured place in any antique jewellery collection.
