Quintessentially Australian this rare piece of antique jewellery was crafted in the late Victorian era circa 1870-80 from a Quandong nut - a native species to Australia, found throughout the deserts and southern areas of Australia.

Similar examples can be seen in Credit: Australian Jewellers: Gold & Silversmiths Makers & Marks. Cavill, Cocks & Grace. (See photos), and other jewellery literature showcasing rare and Australian pieces.

Designed as a finely crafted double sided opening locket with a finely worked Sterling silver ‘belt buckle’ border, and opening to reveal two original compartments with their original rims and panes inside to hold two photos if desired.

A strikingly unusual piece, a piece of jewellery you simply won’t see being worn by another.. a testament to the unique craftsmanship by our innovative, skilled,  early Australian jewellers.
