Antique Victorian 9ct Yellow Gold Garnet Heart Locket Pendant

Crafted from gold which is testing slightly above 9ct gold and set to the centre with a large - 10.0mm x 6.8mm pear cut deep red Garnet, four claw set to a saw edge bezel setting. Surrounding the setting are four engraved semi-circle motifs, and to the heart itself exquisite scrolled engraving, which is replicated on the verso also.
The verso has a large clear paned locket compartment in excellent condition, which retains its original hair matting beneath.
Suspending the heart locket its original ornate and engraved top bale with an oval Garnet, also four claw set to a saw tooth bezel setting.
A total drop of 3.0cm and a width of almost 2.0cm this is a large and strikingly beautiful show of Victorian craftsmanship, and is in wonderful condition for its age.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition. There are no chips or damages to Garnet(s), all claws are present and secure. No repairs. Rear locket compartment is lovely, no chips to clear pane and the original woven hair matting is present underneath. Top bale shows no damage or thinning to gold and will accommodate a thick chain.
