Outstanding Antique Australian Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Amethyst Demi-Parure - 26cts
One of the finest and pristine in condition antique demi-parures we’ve had the pleasure of offering.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold and designed as a style popular during the turn of the century to the Art Deco era - the Négligée - which is necklace of fine links with two parallel pendant drops suspended at different lengths – asymmetrically. However this one displays the two superb drop falling symmetrically!
Featuring the most beautiful and well matched large Amethyst’s - both oval faceted cuts and round brilliant-cuts, which are in excellent condition, multi-claw set (all original, in excellent condition), interspersed with articulated curved bars, and all of which is suspended from a superb 9ct chain which retains its original 9ct gold (stamped) barrel clasp.
Suspended below are the two négligée drops both which are set with two incredible 4.6ct each, round faceted Amethysts, multi-claw set, which move enticingly with movement.
Undoubtedly Australian in manufacture given acquisition and provenance, simply stamped in the Australian manner with ‘9ct’, this particular example bears no makers marks.
Extraordinarily uncommon we find the original matching earrings still accompany this wonderful necklace.
They are also in pristine condition, original substantial butterfly backs, with each Amethyst weighing 2.20ct each (9.3mm), and create quite the statement on the ear given their large size.
A combined Amethyst weight of just over 26cts this fine antique demi-parure is an asset to any jewellery connoisseurs collection, this is a future family heirloom however is as wearable today as it was over 100 years ago.
