Of exquisite design, and in excellent condition, featuring the main pendant/brooch styled as Starburst motif, set with an array of natural half pearls surrounding the central principal Old Mine-cut diamond which is stunning, eight claw set and with an superb colour and clarity. Atop is the original V shaped (detachable) bale which is set also with graduated half Pearls.

The verso is also beautifully crafted.. stylistic and features an S shaped hidden tail allowing the V shaped bale to be removed easily so the pendant can convert to a brooch if desired.

The chain is as exceptional as the pendant.  Also crafted in 18ct gold and set with intermittent pearls and elongated belcher links, securing with an easy to use and very secure hook clasp.

A versatile piece of antique jewellery with 3 pieces in one, a brooch, a pendant, and of course the glorious chain can be worn alone if desired.

S. Schlank, S. Schlank and Co. 1887-1969

Salis Schlank acquired the manufacturing jewellery business of P. Falk and Co. in 1887, naming it the Beaver Jewellery Factor (Silas’ wife maiden name was Beaver).  His proprietorship followed the breaking up of the Falk partnership.  Schlank had been the partner responsible for the Adelaide operations of Falk and Co., these included the wholesale jewellery business in Gawler Place and the factory in Chesser Street.

Renamed the Crown Jewellery Factory in 1892, just preceding Salis Schlanks death, his widow - Mrs Laura Schlank (nee Beaver) - then took over the business.
Listed in Sands and McDougall’s ‘South Australia Directory’ of 1900  to 1905 as “S. Schlank and Co, Crown Jewellery Factory, Chesser Street, Adelaide, wholesale manufacturing jewellers, gold and silversmiths, diamond setters, gilders and elecroplaters, chain manufacturers and medalists.

By 1905 their four sons were involved in the management of the firm, which then became S. Schlank and Co. Ltd.
