Superb Vintage 14ct Yellow Gold Colour-Change Sapphire (Lab Created) Earrings
A strikingly beautiful pair of vintage 14ct Yellow Gold Colour-Change Sapphire Earrings, dating from the 1940s to 1950s, are a remarkable example of mid-20th-century jewellery craftsmanship.
Each earring features a large lab created colour-change Sapphire - often mistakenly referred to as 'Alexandrite' or synthetic Alexandrite.
These beautiful large stones, measuring 11.96mm or approximately 7.4ct each are each very securely four claw set, to a pretty ribbon liked curved setting and circular solid under gallery, and suspended from very strong and solid shepherd hook fittings with long hooks for added security.
Exhibiting a very vibrant rich purple hue similar to an Amethyst, with pinky red undertones which flash beautifully, to a sultry blue/green/violet in natural light,
“Lab created colour change Sapphires were created in the early 20th century as a convincing simulant to the rare and prized Alexandrite, which was discovered in Russia in the 19th century. By growing synthetic sapphires and infusing them with vanadium, jewellers achieved a captivating colour-changing effect: the stones shift from a rich magenta under indoor lighting to a striking violet in outdoor light, mimicking the natural gem's allure”.

These earrings present in as new condition. There are no abrasions, chips or facet wear even under x 10 loupe magnification, pristine. Claws are original, strong and holding the Sapphires securely. The settings and shepherds hooks are also faultless, strong, non repairs and very solid. No issues to note.
