Superb Victorian 18ct Yellow Gold, Platinum And Diamond, Garnet Dog Pendant/Brooch
A rare and exciting piece of Victorian jewellery dating to the late 19th century, perhaps just into the early 20th century.
Designed as sweet faced terrier veritably awash with tiny rose cut diamonds, bright cabochon garnet eyes, and a darling pink tongue in vitreous enamel cheekily visible!
Crafted from 18ct gold, Platinum and the diamonds set in silver as per the era, the circular surround is heavy and beautifully crafted and styled as a large Tambourine with Platinum jingles - called Zills, (we learned this today…!).
A versatile piece of jewellery which can be worn not only as a brooch but also as a pendant given the hidden substantial pigs tail pendant arm.
Of exquisite craftsmanship, when these pieces present (rarely) to the market they are invariably French in manufacture .. unfortunately this one is not hallmarked but has been fully assessed by our gemologist and the independent valuation accompanies this remarkable piece of jewellery.

CONDITION
Very good to excellent antique condition. A rare piece, seldomly seen, beautifully handcrafted. All original, no repairs or damages. Minor marks to gold only, insignificant. Hidden S type arm to verso for a chain. Hinged C clasp which fold down to sit flat and for security, slightly mobile but fully functional. Original safety pin and chain, easily removable if desired. A superb and rare piece of Victoriana.
